Countertop
The countertop is the first thing people notice in a kitchen or bath — and the surface you’ll touch every day. At CAO Homes, stone is our specialty. We help you choose the right material for how you live, template your space precisely and install it with tight seams and clean edges.
Where We Install:

Granite
Granite is a natural stone quarried in large blocks and polished to bring out its color and pattern — no two slabs are alike. It is extremely durable and handles heat well, which is why it remains one of the most popular choices for busy kitchens. Because granite is a natural, slightly porous stone, it should be sealed periodically to keep it resistant to stains.
Type: Natural Stone | Sealing: Periodic | Heat Resistance: Excellent | Best For: Busy family kitchens
Quartz
Quartz countertops are engineered from natural quartz crystals bound with resin, which makes them non-porous: they never need sealing and resist stains from coffee, wine and oil. Quartz comes in consistent colors and patterns, including convincing marble looks. Use trivets for hot pans, and choose a different material for outdoor areas with direct sun.
Type: Engineered Stone | Sealing: Not required | Heat Resistance: Use trivets | Best For: Low-maintenance kitchens and bathrooms
Quartzite
Quartzite is a natural stone formed when sandstone is transformed by heat and pressure. It is one of the hardest countertop materials available, often harder than granite, and offers the elegant, veined look of marble with far better durability. Like other natural stones, quartzite should be sealed to protect it from stains.
Type: Natural Stone | Sealing: Periodic | Heat Resistance: Excellent | Best For: Marble-like appearance with high durability
Marble
Marble is the classic choice for luxury and elegance, with a soft glow and veining that no other material quite matches. It is softer and more porous than granite or quartzite, so it can scratch, and acidic liquids like lemon juice or vinegar can etch the surface. With regular sealing and a little care, marble develops a natural patina many homeowners love — and it is especially beautiful in bathrooms.
Type: Natural Stone | Sealing: Regular | Heat Resistance: Good | Best For: Bathrooms and statement pieces
Soapstone
Soapstone has a smooth, velvety feel and a quiet, natural beauty that deepens with time. It is non-porous and naturally resistant to heat, stains and acids, making it a favorite around cooktops and fireplaces. Soapstone is softer than granite, so it can show scratches — but they can be lightly sanded away, and occasional mineral oil keeps its color rich.
Type: Natural Stone | Sealing: Not required | Heat Resistance: Excellent | Best For: Cooktop areas and fireplaces
Porcelain
Porcelain slabs are made from fine clays and minerals fired at extremely high temperatures, creating a dense surface that resists heat, scratches, stains and UV light. That makes porcelain an excellent option for outdoor kitchens and high-traffic areas. Available in large, thin slabs, it can replicate natural stone, concrete or wood with remarkable realism.
Type: Engineered Material | Sealing: Not required | Heat Resistance: Excellent | Best For: Outdoor kitchens and modern designs
